Regolith - And... - Sampler - Released 08-06-12

The Artists:
Two wrongs make a right…

Regolith formed in 2005 for the purpose of creating music on a geological scale; music of mountains, shifting like glaciers, slow and relentless processes on grand timescales. From deep tectonic ambience to explosive volcanic noise, this is music of stone, designed to be as contemplative and beautiful – yet unpredictable and dangerous – as nature itself.

The Music:
Regolith's music has always been about processes - the change from one thing to another, and this album is no different. This time the music has two main elements, which influence each other: avant-garde electronics and orchestral minimalism.

These two elements affect and are born out of each other - the orchestral parts are sometimes made out of the pitches and rhythms of the electronics, and the processed parts are sometimes created out of the orchestral sounds.

This leads to swirling, unpredictable music, changing on a whim and writhing into new territory.

The progression for Regolith here has been perhaps to move beyond working on single processes and instead creating a collision of multiple processes that lead to a kaleidoscopic effect.

The Release:
This release is available in limited edition 100 x CDr using high quality Aquaguard (matt) or Watershield (gloss) discs (depending on availability). The covers are made from recycled card. The audio will also be available as a download.

Reviews:

"There’s always a precision and cleanness to the sounds but the glitches, clicks and electronic scree mixed with live instrumentation keep it from ever seeming clinical. This is close to perfect, I can’t believe there’s only 100 of them."

"Listening to And… will be a roll of the dice for many. There are brilliant passages, and there are moments that just baffle. But it’s decidedly worth taking a run at."
